In a previous post I mentioned that we are in the process of creating a new blog for the Silver Suitcase Society (http://www.wherewomencreate.com/society/society.php ). Part of the great thing about the new blog is that members will have access to some fabulous vintage images. We've been collecting images for years, and most (if not all!) are truly one-of-a-kind. Before the blog is up, I'm experimenting with images and the best way to get them to our members. So you get to be our "test" group! Here are some free Valentine images for you! Simply click on the image to make it larger, then right click or drag to your desktop (Mac). All I ask is if you would please leave me a comment telling me what images you'd like to see The Silver Suitcase offer. Oh, and if you have a specific project in mind for these Valentine images, I'd like to hear that also! Thanks so much:)

It was a celebration of "Emma's" this weekend. First off, My Emma Jayne turned FOUR! I can't believe it! Time goes by so fast. It seems like just yesterday that she was born and now the toddler years have turned into the pre-school years. Before you know it, it will be (gasp!) HIGH SCHOOL! Not that I don't already have a high schooler, but still! ACK! Can't we slow time just a little? So we celebrated her party with good friends, family, a Desert Tortoise (and other great animals thanks to the Nature Center), and Tinkerbell cupcakes. I love you sweetie! Here she is in all her "Birthday" Glory...
And petting "Rex" the Desert Tortoise...
Happy Birthday Emma J!
As if one Emma celebration wasn't enough this weekend, Masterpiece Classics's new adaptation of Jane Austen's classic Emma (Emma Jayne's namesake!), started this Sunday.... Great timing PBS! I absolutely love the book Emma. I read it for the first time in 2003 and knew immediately that if I were to have a girl, I would name her Emma. Now Jane Austen herself said that she was "going to take a heroine that no one but myself would like", but I think she underestimated the Emma's appeal. I admire her spunk and intelligence. She never means any harm, just thinks she knows best, when usually she doesn't. Now Emma isn't my favorite Austen novel (P&P), nor is she my favorite heroine (Elizabeth Bennett), but there is something about her that is endearing and lovely. Not bad for a book that is almost 200 years old! So if you missed the first showing, you can watch it online here: http://video.pbs.org/video/1390621799/ then watch the next two episodes on January 31st and February 7th.

Maggie Whitley, AKA Gussy, is a wonderfully talented Etsy artist who creates the cutest bags, wallets, clutches, purses and zippered pouches. Visit her shop here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/maggiewhitley . Aren't they great?
Every Friday she features a new artist on her blog (WWC will be coming up in February), usually with a great giveaway. Visit her site at http://maggiewhitley.blogspot.com/ , and make sure you grab a "Gussy" button to put on your site. You'll defiantly want to check back because, as Maggie puts it, Gussy has alot to say (and sew!).

It's a brand New Year! Wahoo! What do you have in store for the New Year? Any resolutions or big plans you'd like to share? I've got some exciting projects I've been working on for WWC. The first is the new private blog exclusively for Silver Suitcase members. You can read about it here: http://www.wherewomencreate.com/society/society.php . I hope to have it up and running by February 1st, if not sooner. The next is the Creative Connection, another fun project for Women. You can read about it here: http://www.thecreativeconnectionevent.com/ .
As for resolutions? I don't know if I have any .... Let me think...Oh, I definitely need to be more organized! That's a good resolution. Be more organized. Oh yeah, and finish the thousand sewing/crafting projects I have lined up to finish. Another good one. How about exercise more? Go to bed earlier? Stop procrastinating? Have more patience? Volunteer more? AH! I guess I have a few:). Lot's to work on! Better get started.....
Welcome to the New Year. I hope you have a great one that is blessed with love.
And speaking of blessed, I have to share this beautiful necklace I bought from Beth Quinn designs. Beth is a talented jewelry artist who creates the most amazing things. She was nice enough to offer a necklace in our 12 (that turned into 16) days of Christmas contest, and the winner was absolutely thrilled with it! She's having a contest right now over on her blog . Visit www.bethquinndesigns.blogspot.com to enter for your chance to win a necklace just like mine. I personalized mine with my mantra for the coming year "She's So Blessed". What would you choose? What's your mantra for the coming year?
