Read Along With Me ...

I feel like I never get to read anymore...

Sure I read the newspaper, a few magazines, blogs, Facebook, message boards and emails by the dozen,  but to sit down and read an actual book ... That would be WONDERFUL!

So I made it my goal this year to read 24 books by December 31st 2011.

I'm going to start a separate page on this blog chronicling the books, but so far I have read ...

The Help
Water for Elephants
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
The Girl who Played with Fire
The Girl who Kicked the Hornets Nest
and I am currently reading
Jane Eyre.

Would you care to join me?

Do you have a great book you can suggest?

Leave me a comment and let me know!

Logging off to get lost in Jane Eyre.

I read it in High School, but since the movie is coming out soon, I need a refresher. Plus, I keep getting into Bronte sisters VS. Jane Austen debates and since I HATED Wuthering Heights (sorry Emily fans), I need to give Charlotte a fair shake.

  1. What a wonderful idea, Paige! I'm in my first novel in forever right now...enjoying it so far!

I LOVE "Jane Eyre"! So excited about the new film! Not such a fan of "Wuthering Heights", either...to dark & sad for me.

I like your idea...think I'll join along, since I'm off to a great start!

Thanks for the inspiration & hope your weekend is lovely & full of quiet reading time...

  2. I just watched the BBC version of Jane Eyre on Netflix. I think I need to read it though.

I loved the Goose Girl series by Shannon Hale. They aren't "classics" but I recommend them to everyone. You're welcome to borrow my books. Happy book reading year!

  4. I like your book list. I started really reading this year thanks to offal car pool lane at my daughter's school, so I just go early and read.

I have read The Witch of Portabello & Brida by Paulo Coelho and Eat Pray Love. I picked up the Time Traveler's Wife. I definitely would love to read your list.

    Happy Reading! ~Theresa

  5. Great choices! I also recommend The Weird Sisters by Eleanor Brown. If you like the Victorian style of Jane Eyre, check out anything by Kate Morton. She's rather popular in Australia, and gaining notice in the States. I love ALL of her novels! Another of my all-time favorites is The Elegance of the Hedgehog, by French writer Muriel Barberry.
What a great project--Enjoy every minute of it!

  6. I recently read Wuthering Heights just to see what all the fuss was about. I hated it too. But I love Jane Eyre. I hope you enjoy it.

We're now friends on Goodreads so I look forward to hearing about your reading progress. There are just so many fabulous books out there!
